About me
Ashley Yang (“Ash·lee Yuhng”) is a second-year medical student currently enrolled at Rocky Vista University College of Osteopathic Medicine, and is passionately dedicated to addressing healthcare disparities in urban underserved communities. Previously in her undergraduate academic years, she was appointed as a Cultural Diversity Advocate, solely to be a voice for other students. She became a Building Connections Ambassador through a volunteering service, where she shared one-on-one conversations with patients staying at the hospital. Since her first year of medical school, she has been part of the Urban Underserved Track, which is a program designed to immerse students in the complexities of healthcare delivery in underserved, underrepresented, and underprivileged populations. In addition, Ashley has been actively involved in various initiatives aimed at bridging the gap in healthcare disparities. She has served on the Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Belonging (DEIB) board for two years. During her term, she led two campus-wide summits regarding Social Determinants of Health and Ableism in Healthcare. She has been involved in other organizations like Student National Medical Association (SNMA) and Asian Pacific American Medical Student Association (APAMSA). Ashley is dedicated to becoming a compassionate and culturally competent healthcare provider. She believes in the power of collaboration, advocacy, and community engagement to address systemic issues and improve healthcare access and equity for all.
