About me
Monica Buhlig, MPH has over 20 years of public health, local government, healthcare, and philanthropic experience focused on strategies that align population health and community partnerships to remove the barriers to healthy choices, or assuring the healthy choice is the easy choice for people irrelevant of where they live, work, learn, play, or pray. Monica has a history of establishing strong collaborative partnerships to advance the alignment of nonprofit/business interests with both community health and the social determinants of health. Monica’s history combines experience working in philanthropy with a focus on basic human needs, health insurance focusing on community health through environmental and policy strategies, public health at the county and state levels and research within university settings. Monica has a Master in Public Health degree from San Diego State University. In addition to that which she does professionally, Monica is an engaged community member bringing her public health experience to advance the social determinants of health within her own community. Monica is a proud mother of two children who she hopes benefit from the changes necessary to create health equity and who she hopes also commit within their communities over time.
