Dr. Ro Pereira is a physician leader and health equity champion at the safety-net healthcare system Denver Health, where she is the inaugural Director of the Office of Health Equity, Section Head for the Division of Endocrinology, and Co-Chair of the Diabetes Quality Improvement Committee. Dr. Pereira has an appointment as Associate Professor of Medicine at the University of Colorado School of Medicine, Division of Endocrinology, Metabolism, and Diabetes. She is the Founder/Director of a community-based lifestyle intervention program for Latino immigrants, and until 2023 served as President of the Board of Directors for the Latino-serving community organization Vuela for Health. Dr. Pereira is also engaged in health equity efforts at the national level as a member of the Endocrine Society Board of Directors and BOD representative and former Chair of the Society’s Committee on Diversity and Inclusion, as well as through her work as a Robert Wood Johnson Foundation Clinical Scholar.
In her role as Director of the Denver Health Office of Health Equity Dr. Pereira leads organizational efforts to provide the highest quality care to all patients regardless of race, ethnicity, English language proficiency, immigration status, or ability to pay. She actively collaborates with internal, local, and regional partners including community organizations and public health departments with the goal of improving care and increasing access to prevention and healthcare services for minoritized communities.
